SustainEd project addresses the urgent need for higher education institutions (HEIs) to integrate sustainability education, digital transformation and institutional collaboration into their structures, aligning with European Green Deal objectives, Erasmus+ priorities, and global SDG commitments. Over a period of 36 months (September 2025–August 2028), the project’s consortium will develop practical tools for HEIs, such as a sustainability assessment framework, action plans and interactive learning resources. It enhances institutional capacity through faculty training and leadership development, while empowering students through hands-on sustainability projects.
To transform HEIs into sustainability-driven institutions by integrating sustainability education, digital tools and institutional strategies.
To equip students, faculty and institutional decision-makers with the skills and resources necessary to implement sustainability initiatives.
To strengthen governance, curricula, and operations while fostering cross-institutional collaboration and student leadership.
At BA, MA and PhD level, empowering them as future sustainability leaders through hands-on projects.
Equipping faculty with the tools to integrate sustainability education and digital methods into curricula.
Supporting university decision-makers in developing sustainability assessment frameworks and action plans.
SustainEd develops SDG digital training modules, runs SDG workshops and creates sustainability leadership programmes for students and faculty.
It develops an SDG audit framework and performs SDG audits in the HEIs that are project partners. Data from audits is used to design customised action plans and digital resources to embed sustainability in HEI governance and curricula.
Engagement is fostered through student-led projects and mentorship programmes. Knowledge-sharing is facilitated via the SDG hub, while impact is ensured through a series of annual conferences.
